REGISTRATION

Update: Registration for the 2025-2026 is now open!

US LACROSSE, INSURANCE, AND FEES HAVE CHANGED FROM PRIOR SEASONS… PLEASE REVIEW BELOW!

general information

Team registrations usually begin around October each year, with weekly, indoor practices starting after Thanksgiving. Team rosters are usually completely filled before January 1... and sometimes much earlier! (example: our 2017-18 girls 7/8 grade team filled up in less than a week!!) It may be possible to register later and get on a team, but this is subject to roster availability, and coach and Board approval.

If you want to play but cannot make winter practices, go ahead and register now to get a roster spot, and just let your coach know about the conflict. Many players are multi-sport athletes and activities outside of lacrosse (what?!) and sometimes have conflicts with basketball, volleyball, hockey, theater, dance, skiing, soccer, etc. We welcome these players, so do not let some conflicts dissuade you from playing lacrosse!

Bay Lacrosse is open to the boys and girls of Bay Village, including Bay residents (regardless of where you attend school), Bay/Raphael students (regardless of where you live), and families with other significant ties to Bay Village.

If you do not live in or attend school in Bay (or are not a returning BVLC player), we suggest you register for the youth lacrosse program of your home community. Lax is better with your friends! But if your home community does not have a program or if you still prefer to register with Bay, please contact us prior to registration to discuss. BVLC reserves the right to cancel any registration at any time.

US LAcrosse is no longer required!

We traditionally obtained insurance through US Lacrosse, which required all players and coaches to become active members ($35-$55) for the entire year. For 2025-2026, we have comparable insurance through Sadlers Sports Insurance for only about $10 per player. So, we have added this premium to the registration total and have eliminated the US Lacrosse membership requirement. Of course, US Lacrosse membership has other benefits, and you can join if you want—but it is not longer required.

Registration Fees

Registration fees cover all indoor practices and field time from December-March, all spring/outdoor practices and field time during the regular season from March-May, and regular season tournament registration fees and game/referee fees. Not included are uniforms and other apparel, equipment [sticks, pads, helmets, etc], travel costs, off-season tournaments, etc.

We work really hard to keep fees low and consistent despite ever-rising costs for referees, NOLL, tournaments… and Force time. Indoor practice time at the Force is very important—and expensive. The Force accounts for about 50% of our entire budget, and field rental rates are up 25% in just the last couple years. Our registration fees had not changed for over 5 years, but to cover increasing expenses we are increasing slightly our fees by $20. This increase—together with the $10 insurance cost—is offset by each player saving $35 or more by not needing US Lacrosse membership. The fees for this year are:

  • 7-8 Grade Teams, Boys and Girls: $295 + $10 for insurance

  • 5-6 Grade Teams, Boys and Girls: $295 + $10 for insurance

  • 3-4 Grade Teams, Boys and Girls: $245 + $10 for insurance

Players are responsible for their own equipment (sticks, protective gear, etc), and a uniform. Uniforms are ordered during the winter and cost somewhere around $60-70. Uniforms are good for multiple years, so you only need to purchase one when you start and then again whenever you outgrow an item.
